About All In Good Time
All In Good Time, a barbershop quartet, has been singing together and entertaining audiences for the past three years. The quartet is part of both the local barbershop chorus, the Lehigh Valley Harmonizers, and the national organization, the Barbershop Harmony Society. Each of its members has had many years of barbershop harmony experience, both in other choruses and quartets.
As a quartet it has been our pleasure to entertain audiences at such functions as banquets, private parties, picnics, receptions and the like. Besides our appearances around the Lehigh Valley, we have sung with the Harmonizers in both their local appearances and on their annual shows.
For the most part, the type of music that we perform is limited to that musical art form that was characteristic of the era around the turn of the 19th century from 1890 to 1920. Its unique sound is different from other forms of music such as a men's glee club, or a church choir in that the melody is in what is called the lead part and the harmony supports the melody with the bass, baritone and tenor parts.
Joel, a retired engineering professor ,is our baritone and has been singing barbershop since 1995. His past quartet experience has included Four In A Chord, and others with some strange names, like CPQ (car pool quartet) and SRQ (sight reading quartet). He has sung with the Brothers in Harmony, Chorus of the Poconos, and the Lehigh Valley Harmonizers. He is also a classically trained pianist.
Jim, a retired Economics Professor, and a barbershopper since 1977, sings the tenor part. A relatively new member of the Lehigh Valley Harmonizers, he formerly sang with the brothers In Harmony of the Easton Chapter where he was honored as Barbershopper of the Year in 2002, Past quartets have included Alumni Reunion, L & B Connection, The Blue Valley Quartet, and All Around Town. He is an active member of both the Atlantic and North Carolina Harmony Brigades.
Jerry, a retired dentist, sings lead in the quartet, and has been involved in the Barbershop Harmony Society for 46 years. In the past he had sung with Audible Difference and Special Arrangement. He is the former assistant director of both Summer harmony Men's Chorus and the Lehigh Valley Harmonizers. He and his wife, Dottie, live in Allentown and, since retiring, he can spend more time on his woodworking hobby.
Mike, our bass, is, for now, the only non-retired quartet member. He is a dentist in Wescosville - The Dentist Down the Lane. He has been involved in local theater since 1983, is on the Board of Summer Harmony Men's Chorus and also sings with the Christ Lutheran Senior Choir. He also finds time for photography, sound recording and some magic. Mike joined the Society in 1979 and is proud to be in his second registered quartet!
